Various thoughts and opinions on the music...

About the CD...

New, provocative, original!!
"Extremely talented!! With a wide voice range. A sexy, sensual way of singing that makes you stand up and take notice. A new comer with a fresh approach to music and a unique way of delivery."  Karen Markel

Stylish and hip, Wren will have you movin' and groovin'
"Wren Owens' premier CD, simply titled "Wren" immediately draws you in and gets up close and personal. Armed with some real life experience, Wren opens up lyrically to express some deep emotions with a light and playful touch, putting the listener at ease and ready for the ride of this woman's journey. Vocally dynamic, she delivers her message accompanied by a constant musical groove of funk, rock and jazz, with underlying hints of Latin and Calypso. Stylish and hip, Wren will have you movin' and groovin' to shake you up and let you loose."  Richard Quinn / RocklandWorldRadio.com

With a smooth R & B base, "Wren" will take flight, soaring through your senses!
".........Wren Owens' music lights a fire in your soul as well as your mind! Haunting lyrics awaken your senses to new realisms of life, love, & even anger. Passion & sensuality rise from "Feel the Heat". Her playful side shines in "Sweetie". With a smooth R & B base, "Wren" will take flight, soaring through your senses... Highly recommended."  Gideon Schery / WVIN fm, Bath, NY

Awesome - a soulful blend that will grow on you - even if you are a novice of blues
"Wren's music is a wide and varied mix - like nothing I've ever heard before. The CD is well mixed and presented beautifully. I especially love "Freezing", "The Magic of You", and the lead cut, "Hey, oh, I know you" which is a profound statement on the inadequacies of our judicial system which allow known murderers to roam amongst us. And any woman can relate to "China Doll", a relationship that is only a facade. Give this one a listen - you will NOT be dissapointed! Definitely THE MIX THAT KICKS!!!"  Tracy Conomos / Buffalo, NY

Nice...
"Vocals are right there. Guitarist has great tone; he has a good knack for choosing the right notes and not cluttering things up; good work. Entire song overall is well crafted melodicalyl and harmonically. production sounds great through these lousy little computer speakers.

Smoky soul blues

- Klear  Los Angeles, California [flag]

Nice feel
"Feel good blues.. the vocals are sweet with very catchy melody.. the lyrics are very poetic and freezing my soul is a good hook.. i like the mellow clean lead guitar that plays along vocals nicely!! cool tune!

Great song
"Love the vocals and guitar. However, the lyrics seem to break up too much e.g. too much space between phrases, but I like the direction this song sends me in. great!

BEAUTUFUL BLUESY AND SEXY
"I like your metaphors, your vocal style, and the melody is very original. You might have used just a touch less reverb on the lead vocal, but that's a minor point. Great guitar solo, and the drums and bass are tight and right in there. Good job all around.

Friendly Sounds
"This feels a little 60's which is ok. The melody is good with some tastefull guitar work backing things up. The female vocalist is strong and definite and in control. The lyrics are hippied out and cool for the groove.I would like to hear more from this group.

About "EMPTY HOME"

Special Award: Coolest Chill-Out Track
"This reminds me of Rainer Maria in the begining. If you havent heard them check em out. Great band. This singer has a very pretty sweet voice. I want to marry a girl with a voice like this. So sexxy. The lyrics are beautiful too..so nice. I love it. simply love it!!!" Twenty One Rest / San Diego, CA [flag]

Really powerful work

"I think I have never heard a more honest and powerful song than empty home. Wow. Wow wow wow is all I can say... I gave you a 5 and top button on everything."  Mr. Strauss / Temple City, CA [flag]

Irony?
"The song made me smile constantly. Irony, I thought. Then I thought it's just another sad song with just another happy melody. But now after the song has ended I'm in doubt. So maybe the lyrics aren't so clear. The song is; it's very nice and I like the melody a lot. The vocals suit the song and so does the accompaniment. It really didn't matter that much if it's irony. Isn't that ironic?" - erikimp   Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands [flag]

Cool tune.
"The lead vocals are very good, strong clear and smooth, the lyrics are very well done, the melody is light and pleasing. The percussion is cool, production is good, nice work! Extra Credit: Female Vocals, Drums, Lyrics, Melody" - skeeboknight   Macon, Georgia [flag]

sad song
"The lead vocals are very good, confident, sure, well performed, good wide range too. The lyrics are very sad, and reflective, It is an interesting lyric, a bit difficult to make out, probably because of the real-time streaming. Nice percussion by the way, and the guitar is very vell played too. Very mature song, Obviously played by people with experience." - moray  Osaka, ,, Japan [flag]

Excellent vocals, guitar, percussion.
"Lead vocals very nice. Pleasant voice for sure. Would sound really great singing children's songs - no offense intended, just an idea. Percussion is very nice. Melody good. Ever hear Kristen Hersh? Reminds me a little of her. Lyrics are great and the part with the "gone, gone, gone" thing has a really cool melody part on the vocals. Very cool way to describe what sounds to be empty nest syndrome or a death in the family. Very "pop" way to say it without being so direct lyrically. Extra Credit: Lyrics" - plankton   Culver, Indiana [flag]

Original and nice
"Yeah I like this. It's a smooth combination of different elements. I can hear some influences of Tori Amos, Jewel, Dido, Cranberries etc. Maybe im way of but that is what I think. Sounds great. Nice guitars and a very nice and original drums for this kind of music. Bongo/congo style. Sounds cool... Great tune!

Sheer Class!
"Oh yes...original enough for me to not place this in any genre! Great production complete with wind sound effects and vocals criss-crossing plus a simply sublime guitar track. You'll have to search long & hard online to find a better song than this. Brilliant!  Extra Credit: Female Vocals, Guitars, Production, Lyrics Special Award: Grooviest Rhythm" - gilly2bad - London, Lewisham, United Kingdom [flag]

Hey, oh.. how different
"I like this song... I like the effects you used in the intro. The lead singer has a witchy, enchanting voice (for instance, while listening to a certain part, I imagined ursula --pretty version-- from the Disney's little mermaid). She pronounces her "er"s funny (sERvant, evER, ovER, hER), but it still works. She sings the hook very well, and the song gonna stick in my head.. The tune is catchy. Extra Credit: Female Vocals" - KatScan - Spring, Texas [flag]

Zappa meets Kate Bush.
"Melodically complex and harmonically interesting"
Kellee - Paris, Ile De France, France [flag]

I know you
"Like the vocals over each other - song is so thoughtful - out there in the twilight zone - sounds like a media slam - guitar is pleasing - mix sounds good - keep it up.
Extra Credit: Production" - ButchGamet  Vassar, Michigan [flag]
